WHO WE ARE
Element_1091a.jpg

Our Mission: We exist to glorify God and enjoy a growing personal relationship with Him as we:

  • Experience His grace
  • Learn His truth
  • and share His love with each other and the world

CCC is an evangelical, Bible believing church
. We are a non-denominational church with members coming from a cross-section of church backgrounds. Our common bond is a shared love for Christ, a commitment to the Word of God, and our desire to tell others of God's love and grace. We believe our calling is to make disciples. As we grow in our walk with God we want the focus of our ministry to be "serving", "reaching" and "embracing" our community with the love of Christ.

CCC holds to the authority of the Word of God. It is our guide in faith and practice. The Sunday morning teaching time is usually verse by verse from a Biblical passage. We seek to draw out lessons of practical application to our lives. The two men who have served as 'teaching elders' both graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary.

CCC worship on Sunday mornings is our opportunity to join together in giving praise to our great and awesome God. We are lead in worship by our worship band and vocal team under the direction of Jerry Chrisman. The music is a mix of both contemporary praise songs and great hymns of the faith. Our desire is to focus our hearts and minds on the Lord and worship God in Spirit and truth.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons called the Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - and these are of one essence and equal in attributes and perfection - therefore to be honored and worshipped as the true God. Matthew 3:16,17; 28:19,20; 2 Corinthians 13:14

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the infallible, inerrant Word of God, a divine revelation. The original writings were verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, and are the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice, to which nothing can be added nor taken away. 2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:21

We believe that the historic person of Jesus Christ was God incarnate, incorporating the mystery of being both fully God and fully man. He was and is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, the bodily expression of God's indescribable love, the fulfillment of all divine prophesy and the divine and only provision for man's salvation. We believe in Jesus Christ's divinity, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His shed blood and suffering on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person, is co-equal with God in all His attributes, and is sent by the Lord Jesus Christ from the Father, to convict the world of sin, to regenerate, indwell, guide, and teach the believer, and to empower him to live in victory over sin. John 15:26; 16:7,8,13 We believe that with the power of the Holy Spirit we can, both individually and corporately, do the works of Christ to the honor and glory of God so that His character in action will be experienced by ourselves and be discernable to the world.

We believe that Man was created in the image of God, but in the sin of the first Adam the whole human race fell and apart from Christ is spiritually dead and lost. Genesis 1:26; Romans 3:23, 5:12

We believe that Salvation is a free gift of God's grace based on the substitutionary death of Christ on the cross. Spiritual life may be received, not by human merit or works, but through faith in Christ as personal Savior. All who have received salvation through faith in Christ are kept secure in their salvation by God's keeping power. John 1:12,12; 5:24; 10:27-29; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 5:13.

We believe that the Church consists of all those who truly believe on Jesus Christ, that it is the Body and Bride of Christ, and it's mission is to witness for Christ among all nations. We believe that through the Holy Spirit there is a communion or a spiritual unity of all believers in Christ, thus constituting both the visible and invisible kingdom of God on Earth.

We believe that by Water Baptism we are making a public declaration of our trust in Christ alone for salvation. In the observance of Communion we are remembering Christ's death and looking forward to His return. Acts 1:8, 15:14; Matthew 28:19,20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.

We believe there will be a bodily Resurrection of the just and of the unjust; the just resurrected unto life, the unjust resurrected unto judgment.

We believe the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent, visible and personal. This is the believer's blessed hope and is a vital truth which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service.

HOW WE STARTED

God's work in establishing Covenant Community Church began in a small group home Bible study in 1979. The group had actually been meeting for a time prior to that, but responding to the Holy Spirit's leading, the church was chartered that year.

With about thirty members in attendance, meetings were held in Yukon's Old Czech Dance Hall. The commitment was to disciplemaking and small group Bible studies, most of which were held in homes. There was also a strong emphasis on missions and the desire to take the Gospel to the world. The name Covenant Community Church was chosen to signify the desire to reach and serve the community for Christ.

By 1982, the congregation had grown to 250 members and had moved to its present location. This marked the beginning of a plan to build facilities that would realize the goal of serving the community. Today this includes a spacious sanctuary, educational buildings (which also serve Southwest Covenant School,) and a growing sports and recreation complex. As much as possible these facilities are open and available to the public.

Covenant draws members from the greater Oklahoma City area. Being non-denominational, the church is made up of people from many different backgrounds and walks of life. The common bond is a shared love for Christ, His Word and the world of people around us.
